Wikipedia; a tool that is heavily criticized but widely used by users

Wikipedia is organized chaos; that is, it's an online encyclopedia organized and maintained by its users, who can add, delete, or edit content. Hundreds of volunteers, known as Wikipedians or librarians, manage everything that happens there.

Given the amount of information that currently exists on Wikipedia, it is really difficult to control malicious users who enter this popular website to change the text of some entries.

In today's world, it's difficult to distinguish between real information and misinformation. That's why it's so important for users to respect Wikipedia's rules, in order to achieve an encyclopedia that offers a neutral point of view, with free content for users to use, where community guidelines are respected and common sense is used when editing pages.

And how is this neutrality achieved?

Wikipedia has a great corrective capacity, through thousands of editors who monitor published texts, as well as hundreds of experts who keep track of user changes. In addition to having legions of bots, which ensures that no vandalism or pointless corrections are made.

If a current topic is misrepresented or a user modifies information without verifying it in an attempt to stir up controversy, Wikipedia administrators can temporarily block the page until the information can be verified before publication. The bots that work for Wikipedia are responsible for identifying and undoing instances of vandalism, adding links, correcting spelling, and maintaining sentence structure.

Wikipedia is a very useful tool and can be an excellent source of information, provided that we always verify the information by comparing it with other reliable sources.
