History of computing

We understand computer science as the science that studies the technical methods and processes for storing, processing, and transmitting data digitally. Currently, computer science encompasses various elements such as software, electronics, computing, and programming. Today we want to talk to you about... evolution of computing, of its origins and the process of creation, uses and needs that it has gone through to reach what we know today.
The origins of computing lie in the second half of the 20th century, although the first generation of computers was developed between 1951 and 1958. These early computers operated using vacuum tubes, magnetic drums, and internal instructions. They were very slow, very large, and generated a lot of heat. But over the years, evolution of computing It has continued to improve thanks to new technologies, especially considering the integrated circuit, mobile phones and the Internet.

Five generations
Today we can distinguish up to five generations in the evolution of computing:
The first generation, spanning from 1940 to 1952, was based on vacuum tube technology. This period saw the construction of many calculating machines which, due to their large size, required sophisticated cooling systems and operated very slowly.
The second generation (1952-1964) features transistors, which solved the problem of the size and heating of computers, since it is a semiconductor of electricity capable of imitating and reproducing a logical process.
The third generation in the evolution of computing (1964-1971) focuses on integrated microcircuit technology, from which teleprocessing emerges.
In the fourth generation (1971-1981) microprocessors and personal computers appeared, networks, shared and interactive processes, and their use also diversified.
In the fifth generation (1981-present), artificial intelligence began to be used, both in hardware and software, to solve complex problems such as automatic translation from one language to another. This fifth generation, which we are currently experiencing, is achieving truly spectacular changes in the evolution of computing, through faster processing, program development, multimedia development, and advances in artificial intelligence and virtual reality, among many other surprises to come.
