WHAT IS A SERVER?<\/h2>\n\n\n

A server is a high-capacity, high-powered computer designed to store information. This computer is part of a network where other computers have access to the stored information. The goal is to make the information readily available to the computers connected to the server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Server machines have more storage and memory capacity than a typical computer, due to the service they must provide to multiple computers. Servers are usually located in companies, centralizing and storing the large amounts of data generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Server components<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Operating system: <\/strong>Software that handles the basic processes of a computer and facilitates the operation of other programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Power supply: <\/strong>Device that powers the internal components and allows the server to be on 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Hard drive: <\/strong>Component that stores the server's programs and information; its capacity is typically several terabytes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Processor: <\/strong>A tool that helps process data and programs; several are found within the server due to the large amount of information stored on the computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • RAM Memory: <\/strong>Storage system that temporarily stores information so that the computer can perform its functions; if this memory becomes full, the hard drive memory is used, which results in slower processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • CD or DVD reader: <\/strong>It allows playback of both CDs and DVDs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • System boards: <\/strong>Keep the different server components connected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Types of servers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Mail server<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    It allows you to manage email-related operations. It sends, receives, and stores information. It facilitates communication between users and makes data transmission more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Proxy Server<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    A device that acts as an intermediary between two systems, preventing direct connections between sender and receiver, thus acting as a security filter. The proxy server can be located within a firewall and is also available independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Web Server<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Its function is to store a website's files (HTML, images, CSS stylesheets, and JavaScript documents) so they can be displayed to users. When the browser requests a file stored on the web server, it sends the request via HTTP. Once the request reaches the server, the HTTP server sends the requested information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Database server<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Stores, manages, and retrieves data. It simplifies and streamlines the administration of stored data by allowing you to configure user access and import or export data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Dedicated servers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    It is a purchased or leased server where a company uses the entire server, having complete control over it. These are typically located in data centers where a single client contracts the service or acquires the equipment to have full access to all the necessary resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Image servers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
