This summer you can search for public WiFi networks for free, thanks to Facebook

The quintessential social network is exploring ways to become in a global tool, Facebook has just announced the global expansion of a WiFi search service that locates free public internet access points.

The advantages

This service can be incredibly useful, especially when traveling abroad and wanting to stay in touch with family, but we must be careful and only connect in areas with Wi-Fi. Therefore, this tool can greatly simplify this task, allowing us to complete the entire process directly from the Facebook app.

Facebook helps its more than 2 billion users stay connected and spend more time on its app, while also helping them discover new places. Users can start using Facebook to find the nearest coffee shop with Wi-Fi, instead of other options that don't offer this feature.

This service is focused on two types of users: tourists and people in rural areas With limited connectivity, these are two sectors that will most appreciate being able to connect to the Internet easily and for free.

The drawbacks

The downside is that users must allow Facebook to constantly track their phone's location, which can reduce battery life. Additionally, this service doesn't include all available networks, only those that have subscribed to it.

This feature is located in the 'More' tab of the Facebook mobile app. Once you enter the 'Find Wi-Fi' tab, a map will appear, showing the nearest access points, as well as details about the businesses that provide them, ensuring you find a place you like.
