Bitcoin surpasses $5,400 for the first time

The popular cryptocurrency or virtual currency has become the focus of attention throughout this morning of Friday the 13th, as it has managed to climb its price to 5,586 dollars and already has a revaluation of 750%.

This has influenced economic actors of all kinds, from investment funds to individuals and well-known financial institutions. They have all been enthusiastic about this virtual currency, which has proven capable of generating far more value than it initially appears.

So much so, that in Japan there are already businesses that have accepted the use of bitcoin, as well as the London-based company The Collective, which will allow its tenants to pay rent with bitcoins.

What advantages does Bitcoin offer?

Bitcoin offers advantages such as direct transactions between users, without intermediaries, and these transactions are recorded in a public database. These are some of the main advantages:

  • It does not belong to any state or government and can be used worldwide.
  • Its value does not depend on a central bank
  • Divisible currency: Can be used with up to 8 decimal places
  • Real-time transactions: can be completed in less than an hour.
  • Impossible to counterfeit: You cannot create a fake bitcoin or double spend without the network detecting it.
  • Anonymity: no one is obliged to reveal their identity
  • It works 24 hours a day: for bitcoin transactions there are no schedules or holidays.

Bitcoin is a virtual and intangible currency; it cannot be touched in any of its forms but can be used as a means of payment in the same way as conventional money.
